iSectra Origin Story

Everyone starts somewhere. For CEO, Damian Colarte, it was an unlikely introduction to a brand-new, three-person pharmaceutical team that turned into a 19-year strong partnership.

In 2007, Damian was working at a large Group Purchasing Organization as the Network Administrator. He had built the entire IT infrastructure of this then billion dollar company single handedly from when it was a small company. There was a regime change and he was not aligned on their vision. He was at the end of his rope trying to align his values with that of the new C-suite. The frustration was too much. Damian made the decision to leave the company, before even talking to his then-pregnant wife! Later that day when he told her what he'd done, they had a VERY CALM discussion about what this meant for their growing family. They decided together, that come what may, they would see it through.

Damian imagined an IT company, where he could roll up his sleeves and support a team, doing what he knew how to do best - build IT systems that supported business growth. Fast forward a couple days later, Damian received a call from none other than his dad's then girlfriend, Carol. 

At that time, Carol was the assistant to a CEO who had just left a pharmaceutical company and was looking to start his own venture. Carol had no idea Damian had even left his company. When she called, she asked if Damian knew anyone who might be able to help out with the IT work for this new pharmaceutical company. Was it coincidence or fate? 

Carol set up a meet and greet for Damian to be interviewed. About a week later, the CEO and Damian met and he won the contract. What started out as a team of just 3 people grew, and iSectra grew too! 

Today, iSectra still works with the pharmaceutical company 19 years later! Damian and the iSectra team continue to redefine what it means to be a true IT partner that cares about people.
